🎁 Spreading Holiday Joy at Lincoln-Bassett Community School! 🎁
Today, every student at Lincoln-Bassett Community School went home with 2–3 toys, thanks to the incredible efforts of our parent engagement coordinator, Keith Young, and the generosity of our community partners.
This special day was made possible through a long-standing partnership with Ryan McFarland, who has served as president of the New Haven Police Emerald Society since 2014, Detective Brianna Sargent of the North Haven Police Department, Chief Christopher Massey of the Guilford Police Department, and the Della Ventura family through the Wishing Wheels Bike Drive.
Mr. McFarland, a retired detective from the New Haven Police Department, began this tradition 11 years ago with just a small van of toys donated to LBCS. Today, that generosity has grown into a 26-foot truck filled with toys, bringing smiles and joy to hundreds of students.
Thank you to everyone who continues to make this tradition possible and helps make the holidays brighter for our LBCS families! 💙✨

There’s no better way to head into the holidays! Truman School third and fourth graders in Mrs. Pasan’s and Mrs. Irizarry’s classes had a blast reading under their blankets with their favorite "reading buddies" (both the stuffed and human kinds!).
This cozy morning officially starts our Home Reading Challenge. The goal? Read every day during vacation!
Challenge accepted! Who’s joining us? #NHPS

📚 Metro’s GSA visited Possible Futures in New Haven, a community book space dedicated to amplifying voices from historically marginalized communities. Students browsed, read, and selected books that reflected their lived experiences, challenged dominant narratives, and identified meaningful additions to our school library—followed by thoughtful discussion about why these stories matter.
