📹🎙️ Place-Based Learning at QU🎙️📹

Metro journalism students visited the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University, stepping into professional broadcasting studios, working behind cameras and in front of green screens, and collaborating in real-world media spaces.

Through Metro’s concurrent enrollment journalism course, students earn both high school and college credit, gaining early access to college-level learning while building skills, confidence, and clarity about future pathways. Experiences like this turn coursework into credentials and curiosity into possibility.

🍊 Fresh Start Station 🍎

Metro students closed Marking Period 2 at the Fresh Start Station with chilled, fresh-squeezed apple and orange juice, reflecting on their attendance and setting goals for Marking Period 3. With tea, hot cocoa and snacks also on offer, students celebrated progress and encouraged one another—turning goal-setting into a moment of connection and community.

A big thank you to Mr. Conaway, Ms. Patel, and Ms. Fasano for leading this pop-up event. At Metro, we celebrate growth, accountability, and the power of supporting each other. 💙

Dear NHPS Community,

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the profound impact of Dr. King's legacy and the ongoing relevance of his message in our lives. This day is not just a commemoration of a remarkable leader but also a call to action for each of us to engage in the ongoing fight for civil rights and social justice.

Dr. King's vision of equality, justice, and unity resonates now more than ever. In a world where divisions still exist–and where some actively incite those divisions–it is essential that we renew our commitment to the principles he championed. His dedication to nonviolent protest and dialogue serves as a powerful reminder that progress requires both courage and collaboration.

This day presents us with an opportunity to educate ourselves about the struggles faced by those who fought for civil rights and to reflect on the work that still lies ahead. It's a time to engage in meaningful conversations, challenge our own biases, and take steps towards creating a more inclusive and equitable community.

Let us honor Dr. King’s legacy not only by remembering his words but by embodying his ideals in our daily lives. Together, we can contribute to a future where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Wishing you all a thoughtful and inspiring Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Sincerely,

Madeline Negrón, PhD
Superintendent

Plory, from iReady, came to visit the students at Truman last Thursday. Plory wanted to be sure to tell all the students to use the math strategies they have been learning, to use their scrap paper, and to read the question three times. They will be starting the diagnostic this week. We are excited to see how much growth our students made so far this year! They have been working so hard. Let's Go, Truman! #NHPS

John S. Martinez School rolled out the red carpet for a very special guest—Plory stopped by to hype up students and staff for the Winter i-Ready Diagnostic! 🙌

Plory’s visit was all about boosting excitement, confidence, and a positive mindset as our students show what they know and how much they’ve grown. 💪

The diagnostic helps us celebrate progress, set new goals, and plan instruction that supports every learner. With plenty of smiles, high-fives, and motivation in the air, our school community is geared up and ready to shine. 🌟 Let’s do this, Martinez!
