Today, we had the honor of welcoming Roberta Hoskie, author of Poverty Curse Broken: The Roberta Hoskie Story, to our school. She spoke at our Parent Team Meeting to members of our school community and then to our 8th grade crews. A New Haven native and graduate of New Haven Public Schools, Ms. Hoskie shared her powerful journey from growing up in our community to becoming a successful Real Estate Developer, Tedx Speaker, Author, and Founder of the Millionaire Mindset Sisterhood. She reflected on her time here as a student at Conte and Truman School, when taught by our very own Ms. Rosa, bringing her story full circle in the most meaningful way. Her messages were powerful, inspiring, and motivating:
✨ Whatever problem you may encounter, there is always a solution.
✨ Start by writing down your goals.
✨ Build multiple-streams of income.
✨ Create the ladder that everyone else climbs up. Be the boss! Our students were challenged to think deeply about what success really means, overcome challenges, and believe in themselves! We are grateful to Roberta Hoskie for sharing her story, wisdom, and belief in our students. 🦁💙📚

Dear Conte West Hills Magnet School Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to share an important update regarding our PreK program's schedule for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

Beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year, our PreK program will align its start and end times with the rest of our school:

New PreK Hours:
Start Time: 9:05 AM
End Time: 3:20 PM

We wanted to communicate this change early to allow families ample time to plan and adjust their schedules accordingly. This adjustment is part of our district-wide initiative to streamline start and end times across third-tier schools, promoting consistency and operational efficiency.

If you have any questions or concerns about this schedule change, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warm regards,
Principal Sloley
Assistant Principal Ferris
