Dear CO-OP Families,
I am reaching out to share an important resource regarding vaping, nicotine, and cannabis use among young people.
These issues continue to affect schools and communities, and we know that families are an important part of prevention, education, and helping students make healthy choices. With vaping and cannabis products continuing to evolve, it can sometimes be difficult for parents and caregivers to know what students may be seeing, using, or hearing about.
New Haven Public Schools and Southern Connecticut State University are offering a virtual Parent Lunch and Learn: “Let’s Talk About Vaping & Cannabis.” The session, presented by Victoria Adams of Southern Connecticut State University, will provide families with information about youth nicotine and cannabis trends, health risks, tips to quit, and treatment resources available in Connecticut.
Families may attend either session:
- Wednesday, October 28
or
- Wednesday, November 4
- 12:00–12:30 PM: Presentation
- 12:30–1:00 PM: Questions and Open Discussion
- Location: Virtual Link https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/265279722182936?p=HN3JMKtPAQszNpRVhx
The same presentation will be offered on both dates.
I encourage families to review the attached flyer and participate if you are able. Even when we may not believe our own child is involved with vaping or cannabis, understanding current trends and having the information needed to talk about these issues can make a meaningful difference.
At CO-OP, we will continue working with students and families to reinforce healthy choices, provide support when it is needed, and maintain a safe school environment.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support of our students.
Sincerely,
Paul T. Camarco, Principal
