I want to let you know about the fantastic Summer Reading programs available for your children this year! There are lots of fun and FREE incentives to help children maintain the reading skills they learned during the school year.
I recommend the New Haven Free Public Library’s (NHFPL) Summer Learning Program! The attached flyer has information about Summer Learning Kick-Off events, where your child can sign up for a library card, get a Summer Reading Log, and participate in fun activities.
The NHFPL Wilson branch is also offering a summer program called READy for the Grade, which is designed for students entering K-3rd grade who are below grade level in reading.
Also attached is information about other summer reading programs from nearby businesses that may interest your child. Your child can participate in more than one summer reading program at a time! Prizes for reading include two free tickets to a Hartford Yard Goats baseball game, free personal pizzas from Pizza Hut, and a free book from Barnes & Noble bookstore.
Thank you, and Happy Reading!

Good morning! Please have your students return all school library books by TOMORROW. Thank you!
If they cannot find any school library books, they will be expected to pay to replace them.

Reminder: Families are invited to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with the Clemente community at our annual assembly TOMORROW, Friday 5/22 at 9:30am.
The assembly will feature student performances including a fashion show, poetry, music, dance, and informational presentations. (Please note that many but not all students will be performing. It’s hard to believe, but it is already time for our Grades 3–8 students to show off what they’ve learned! The Smarter Balanced tests kick off next week, Monday May 4th and we want to make sure every student feels ready, relaxed, and empowered to do their best. Students in these grades will be testing in the mornings from May 4th until May 15th. Following these two weeks, students will then begin their NWEA ELA MAP testing and iReady Math Testing.
To give your kids the best shot at success, we’d love your help with a few things at home. First, please try to get them to bed a little earlier than usual—a well-rested brain makes a huge difference when it comes to staying focused. A healthy, filling breakfast in the morning is also a big help to keep those energy levels steady through the testing sessions.
Being here on time and ready to go is also super important. Testing starts right away, and arriving late can make kids feel rushed or stressed before they even sit down. We really want to see everyone here every day of testing so they can finish up with their friends and avoid having to do make-ups later on.
If your student comes every day of testing, they will attend a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream celebration!
We are so proud of all the hard work our students have put in this year! Thank you for helping us make this a smooth, stress-free week for them. If you have any questions, just let us know.
Best,
Principal Jorge

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are writing to share some disappointing news. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel this year’s Talent Show scheduled for this Friday April 10th.
We know how hard our students have been practicing and how much they were looking forward to hitting the stage. Please know this decision was not made lightly. We truly value the creativity and effort our performers have poured into their acts.
We are looking into ways to showcase student talents later in the year and will send any further information when available.
Thank you for your patience and for supporting your child’s "star power" even when the curtains can't go up as planned.
Best regards,
Talent Show Committee
