Attention students interested in performing in the Black History Month Assembly! 

CALLING ALL STUDENT-DANCERS:

If you would like to audition to perform, you must audition in the music room during one of the following dates and times: 

Friday, February 6th - during all lunch waves 

Tuesday, February 10th - during all lunch waves 

Wednesday, February 11th - After-school from 2:15PM to 2:45PM in the music room

Your dance should be school-appropriate, reflect this year’s theme of “Black Love and Black Beauty as Resistance,” and be 2 minutes maximum in length. 

Practice choreography on your own, and please bring your song with you to auditions. Students who do not audition will not dance in the assembly.

  • It’s Black History Month, and the theme is Black Love & Beauty as Resistance. Black joy is not the absence of struggle but the refusal to let oppression define the full Black experience. Celebrating joy is a powerful form of resistance and affirmation of humanity.

  • Come join the Yale Pathways Club for our special event tomorrow after school.  Get your hands on a slime-making lab, test your smarts in a game of jeopardy, tackle a creative engineering challenge, and enjoy many other fun activities!  Feel free to bring a friend along and enjoy pizza on us!  Meet us this Thursday right after school in Room 305.

  • The next Model Union meeting will take place on Thursday, February 12, at 2:25 pm in room 206.  We are excited to welcome students from the Yale Political Union (YPU) who will be joining us to guide Career students through:

    • Core debate principles

    • Discussions on current affairs

    • Hands -on Activities

    • Speech writing workshops and more ……..

In addition, Career students will have the opportunity to observe live YPU debates on the Yale campus, offering a real -world look at collegiate - level debate and civic engagement.  All grades are welcome, especially students interested in politics, law, and social justice.  Light refreshments will be served  For more information, please contact Ms. Batiste.  We hope to see you there!

  • The Junior Class is hosting a Valentine's Cinnabon sale! Treat your valentine, your friends, or yourself to a Cinnabon for just $5 or an entire box for $20.  They will be sold after school at 2:15pm on Wednesday, February 11th. Pre-orders will also be available for pick up on February 11th.  Support the Junior Class and enjoy your Valentine's Day!

  • February is Love Your Library Month, and to celebrate, the library contest is open to both students and faculty!  Come down to the library and guess how many Hershey Kisses are in the jar, and include on your entry form why you love the Career High School Library!  The student and faculty winners will receive Hershey kisses!  Entry forms need to be received by the end of the day of Tuesday, February 24th by 2:15pm.  The winner will be announced on Thursday, February 26th, during the morning announcements.  

  • Attention, students in the Business and Technology Academy!  Come join us for a Lunch & Learn session on Tuesday, February 10t,h from 11:00 pm -12 pm in the library. We will be hosting a guest speaker from UNH (University of New Haven). Come learn about careers in the field of Cybersecurity, experience an interactive VR session, and watch a computer disassembly and reassembly in real time!  Lunch will be provided.  Please sign up with Dr. Jalil or Ms. Plair ASAP; seats are limited to about 25-30 students. The last date for sign up is Monday, Feb 9th. 

  • Attention Juniors and Seniors, are you interested in tech school? Come down to the Library tomorrow, February 5th, at 11:00 to meet a representative from Lincoln Tech. You can sign up to attend in your Google Classroom.

  • Sports:
