Take a Break With Us!

Take a Break With Us!

Did you know that:

  • only one in four US adults gets the recommended levels of physical activity;
  • low levels of physical activity are associated with $117 billion in health care costs every year;
  • physical inactivity can contribute to heart disease, type II diabetes, cancers, and obesity;
  • there are Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans developed and recommended by the CDC;
  • according to these guidelines, you are considered physically inactive if you are “not getting any moderate- or vigorous intensity physical activity beyond basic movement from daily life activities”;
  • even short bouts of physical activity can improve health and wellness.

What does it all mean? Looking at the bright side, it means there is hope for those of us who have sedentary jobs, who are neither attending the gym, nor exercising at home. We can do workplace exercises! Yes, even a five minute break can make a difference. Though the breaks are tiny, they can have a disproportionately powerful impact – studies have shown that they can improve the ability to concentrate, boost creativity, and even help avoid injuries.

Now that everyone has become proficient with Zoom and the Internet “thanks” to Covid, it should not be hard to click on the video below and follow the simple movements. Try! We are showing just a couple exercises in this video so that you could remember and repeat them yourself without a prompt tomorrow, and hopefully start doing them every day.

Stay healthy!
