    March 25, 2020-Words with Worthy-

    Distance Learning and moving forward-

Dear Parents, Guardians and members of the Hillhouse Learning Community-

We hope that this letter finds you and your families safe and healthy in this surreal time. Seeing how our society has changed and responded to these challenging times has been profound and inspiring. As always, we get up and rise to the challenges set before us. We will continue to communicate our work to you and stay connected with our families.

Distance Learning: We have provided over 400 chromebooks for students so that they can access their work from their teachers, via google classroom, nhps email, youtube and other formats. Our teachers have worked to provide valuable learning resources for their classes and we expect our students to try their best to access their learning during this big transition to distance learning.

Technology Support: If you or your chiid needs support in technology or communication with the Hillhouse staff, do not hesitate to email the administrative staff with your question. Please email the administrator according to your child’s grade level:

    9th grade: john.tarka@new-haven.k12.ct.us

    10th grade: daniel.bonet-ojeda@new-haven.k12.ct.us

    11th grade: eric.barbarito@new-haven.k12.ct.us or john.tarka@new-haven.k12.ct.us

    12th grade: eric.barbarito@new-haven.k12.ct.us

    Hillhouse Technology Supervisor: richard.pizzonia@new-haven.k12.ct.us

Work Completion and Accountability: We understand that distance learning has been a big change for students, families and teachers alike. It’s important that we work together as a school community and support each other throughout this challenging learning process. Looking at student work to assess the learning and making sure all students are engaged in the learning process is our top priority. Please work to complete the tasks set out by your teacher, as now more than ever, students will own their learning.

On a personal note: I want to commend the Hillhouse staff and families who have worked so hard during this difficult change. With us being away from each other at school, we realize how much working closely together is so important. Everything we are doing is for the betterment of our students’ growth and learning and their future. We are all Academics, and all of us are working and learning as we go. Please know that we are all in this together and a part of House Family.

    Sincerely,

    Glen Worthy

    Principal
