NEW HAVEN – Are you interested in becoming a state certified Emergency Medical Technician Basic?  The City of New Haven Fire Department in collaboration with the New Haven Board of Education is now recruiting high school juniors and seniors to participate in the New Haven Fire Department’s EMS Cadet Program.
           The program is seeking candidates who have a strong interest in becoming a Firefighter/ Emergency Medical Technician or students who have some other allied health career interest.  Candidates need to have a good attitude, interpersonal skills, a good attendance record, and a “C” or better grade point average.  This is a very challenging course that is worth two science credits.
The application deadline is October 16, 2009 and interviews will take place the week of October 26.  Candidates must submit an application along with a resume, cover letter, essay and high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation.   The course begins on November 10, 2009 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5p.m. to 8p.m.  Several Saturday sessions will be scheduled that will run from 9a.m. to 1p.m.
