Community Resource Fair

 Hill Regional Career High School
140 Legion Ave.
New Haven, CT 06519

Wednesday, October 11, 2017
4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Our Resource Fair will host community providers, education institutions, as well as representatives from varied employment providers.  The fair is open to all families but is particularly geared towards families of students with disabilities.  Although this may be true, the fair is open to all families.   Planning for our student’s futures beyond NHPS while they are still a part of our school community is integral to their future success.  The connection that students have to their home and school community allows them to appropriately plan for life beyond the NHPS classroom.  Integrating community support into the lives of our students, particularly our students with special needs, assists them in making the best choices that support their needs. Early planning provides parents with information of the many supports that are available to shape the future path of success for their students.
“As a parent, I feel collaboration and connections to service providers are critical in building a pathway of success for my child”- Parent of NHPS student with disabilities. The Community Resource Fair provides parents with access to colleges, community providers, and places of employment.  The purpose of having the fair is to allow for parents to have resources given to them as opposed to them having to navigate systems to get information they will need to assist with their children.  This fair keeps in line with the district’s goal to address the academic and social emotional/physical health needs of our students. Typhanie R. Jackson, Director of Student Services New Haven
