FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Haven Public Schools to Hold College Fair Consortium for Students in the Class of 2017
March 28 – March 29, 2016

(New Haven)  New Haven Public Schools in partnership with the New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College (NECBAC) will hold its fifth College Fair Consortium on March 28 - 29.  College recruiters from around New England will be here for two days meeting with 11th graders throughout the district.  In order to provide the students with a truly meaningful and enriching experience with these college recruiters, the college fair is being moved around to five of our high schools (Wilbur Cross High School, James Hillhouse High School, Hill Regional Career High School, Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School, and Metropolitan Business Academy) over the course of two days.  The 11th graders in the smaller high schools will be bused to one of the participating high schools.

The College Fair Consortium is an exciting and important event for the students and college recruiters alike.

New Haven Public Schools is excited to host our annual College Fair Consortium with NEBAC. This event provides a great opportunity for our students to learn of a range of various colleges and universities. It is important that our students are able to ask questions to make the best decisions on which schools to visit and submit applications to guarantee their success in college, career, and life." Superintendent, Garth Harries.

“The New Haven Consortium is organized and well attended! This vibrant event is a great way to engage with talented students who might not otherwise have much exposure to so many incredible colleges and universities in the same room. This opportunity will truly impact lives,” said NECBAC President Alick Lètang, who also serves as Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management at Iona College.

While the majority of colleges and universities in attendance will be from Connecticut and Massachusetts, New Haven Public Schools has extended an invitation to a delegation of colleges from Puerto Rico to do targeted outreach to our students this year.
