January: "I Rise" nominee

“I Rise” nominees embody the vision of the New Haven School Change Initiative. They exhibit the qualities of life-long learners showing resilience, perseverance, community involvement, strong voice, and the ability to rise above adversity to accomplish goals. “I Rise” nominees exhibit the qualities of life-long learners. They are our next generation of leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers who are on the path to succeeding in the next stages of education, career, and life.

  
Tiana Ramirez is an 8th grade student at Augusta Lewis Troup. She has overcome learning disability obstacles and negative pressures from peers become one of Troup’s top students. Tiana is a positive role model and an admirable person.  She is currently on the National Honor Society, secretary of the student council, safety patrol officer, and works with children in Troup’s Preschool. Tiana puts forth maximum effort and is always available to lend a helping hand. She hopes to become a novelist.
