January’s I Rise Nominee

Stevie Swinson is a senior at Wilbur Cross High School.  He has been recommended for the WYBC “I Rise” student of the month for many reasons.  Stevie made the honor roll for the first time in his high school career first marking period this school year...and is maintaining honor roll status second marking period as well! Stevie is also a star athlete and captain of the WCHS football team...leading his team to a number of victories this year.  His commitment to his team is remarkable.  He even played the Thanksgiving game with an injury because he would not let his team down!
Recently, Stevie was accepted in to the internship program at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he will intern as an electrician the second half of the school year.  Last month, Stevie underwent a traumatic experience when his brother was murdered. Stevie turned this traumatic experience in to positive action by deciding to apply to college to make his mom and family proud. Stevie has already submitted his applications and wrote a heartwarming essay about how this experience impacted him.  He is an overall amazing young man, and we are proud to have him represent Wilbur Cross High School!
The district encourages Stevie to keep striving for sucess!
