Summer in New Haven - Community Canvass June 18

The City of New Haven and New Haven Public Schools are continuing efforts to reach out to our communities through door-to-door canvassing to offer support for our children and families. The theme of our third canvass coming up next week is: “Summer in New Haven: Be safe. Have fun. Learn something new.”

For this canvass, we will have teams of volunteers go door-to-door in the Newhallville neighborhood to talk to families about resources and opportunities available to their children over the summer. Volunteers will be equipped with lists of resources and information on summer camps and programs. We’ll also have information about the free summer meals programs and tips for keeping the learning going during the summer months. Help us give our families as a positive message as they finish the school year and transition into summer.

The Summer in New Haven community canvass will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18th, and will launch from the library at Wexler Grant School. We hope you will join us. New Haven Public Schools staff are on the frontlines of this work and have unique relationships with students and families.
