KIDS FIRST SUMMER PROGRAMS K-4 

NHPS provides LitCamp for our summer school literacy program.  It is designed to reverse the summer slide by providing a joyous, fun and interactive framework for literacy support. We encourage children to attend our summer program.  In math, students will get a jump-start into the following year by learning Common Core Standards in a fun and gaming environment. Please get the application at your student’s school.

KIDS FIRST SUMMER PROGRAMS Gr. 5-7 

New Haven SOARS is a wonderful STEM camp for students currently in grades 5-7.  In this program, students learn literacy skills through digital media production, math through computer gaming, engineering through problem-based learning, and team building skills through recreational projects.  The program is in its 10th year.  Fun and learning always prevail. Please get the application at your student’s school.

SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL RECOVERY PROGRAM

The Summer High School Credit Recovery Program is designed to provide a learning environment in which high school students can engage in meaningful instructional activities as they develop needed skills and competencies.  The focus of all summer course work is developing needed skills and interactive learning strategies. Teachers are carefully selected and highly qualified.  They have expertise in their content areas as well as the ability to stimulate and motivate students to learn and remain on task. They prepare learning events to maximize students' opportunities to gain new concepts through developmentally appropriate content.

Purpose:

 Credit Recovery Summer courses are designed to provide students the instructional content and hours needed for most subject(s) that they received failing grades. Skills development, learning strategies, content strand mastery, and holistic applications are prioritized in order to enhance continuous progress. 

THIS SUMMER PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR COURSE FAILURE – NO EXCEPTIONS.  

 Eligibility:

 Students enrolled in grades 9-12 who wish to repeat courses for which failing grades were received.  Students may receive one full credit in one of the offered subject areas.  Admission is granted on a first come, first served basis. Credits earned for summer courses will be awarded pending appropriate attendance and achievement (see attendance policy).

WHEN:

Mondays through Fridays beginning on July 5, 2018 and ending on August 1, 2018.

First period will begin at 8:15 A.M. and end at 10:15 A.M.  Second period will begin at 10:30 A.M. and end at 12:30 P.M.  Two or more absences will result in credit being denied. Two days marked Tardy results in ONE absence. In the event of course failure, no credit will be earned.
