New Haven Public Schools co-sponsors National Magnet School Conference

This year New Haven Public Schools helped sponsor the National Conference for the Magnet Schools of America in Hartford on May 15-18. This was the first time the annual conference included a Parent Day as part of the activities. The conference also included musical performances by the Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School and Edgewood School.

In the days leading up the conference, the district  hosted visitors from across the country touring six of our magnet schools.

The culmination of the conference was the Awards Ceremony, which recognized the following magnet schools for outstanding achievements:

  • The Engineering & Science University Magnet School has earned the prestigious honor of being named a 2014 School of Excellence.

  • Barnard Environmental Studies Magnet School; Mauro-Sheridan Science, Technology and Communications School; and Ross Woodward Classical Studies School all were named 2014 Magnet Schools of Distinction.
