New Haven Students compete and win at Scholastic Challenge!   Congratulations to the students at Wilbur Cross High School (Annakte Schatz, John Branch, Michael Jefferson, Alexandra Torres-Quintero, alternates: James Hayward, Jose Chardiet, Milena Souto, advisor: Chris Kafoglis) who were the first place team at the Hartford Scholastic Challenge held Saturday, April 7 at the Hartford Public Library. The Challenge was sponsored by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and the winning team will receive $3000 in scholarship funds.   Also participating were teams from Hillhouse High School (Treva Perry, Jenadra Harvey, Kenyena Amiker, Maleka Blaise, Mario Callahan), and Metropolitan Business Academy (Michelle Zhang, Tychell Forbes, Khadijia Emery, Raymond Sizemore). They competed against each other and teams from Hartford's Capitol Prep Magnet School and Hartford's Buckley High School. There were two rounds of academic jeopardy questions in a round robin format in English, Math, Science and Social Studies, with a Final round between Wilbur Cross and Capitol Prep. New Haven schools and students were well represented, and we celebrate their achievement!   See Photo of the Wilbur Cross (Champions), Hillhouse and Metro teams below:
