NHPS College Fair April 10 and 11

College Fair Consortium Press Release
One of the goals of the New Haven Public Schools Change Campaign is to ensure that every graduating student has the academic and the financial resources to attend and succeed in college.  On April 10th and 11th, the New Haven Public Schools (NHPS) in partnership with the New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College (NECBAC) will hold its first College Fair Consortium.  We have planned an exciting, informative, and engaging experience for parents and students.
Parents:
On the evening of April 10th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School – located at 177 College St. (between Crown and George Streets), the audience for the college fair will be parents of students of all ages (Pre K-12).  This event will include workshops and panel discussions with college admissions officers to provide parents with valuable information in the areas of college planning, the college application process, and financial planning.  All workshops and panels will be done in English and Spanish.  The workshop presenters come from NHPS (guidance counselors Pre K-12), colleges and universities, public and private sectors of New Haven, community based organizations, and financial institutions.  All workshop information is available on the school district website www.nhps.net .
Students:
College recruiters from around New England will be here for two days meeting with 11th graders throughout the district.  In order to provide the students with a truly meaningful and enriching experience with these college recruiters, the college fair is being moved around to six (6) of our high schools (Wilbur Cross High School, James Hillhouse High School, Hill Regional Career High School, Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School, Metropolitan Business Academy, and New Haven Academy).  The 11th graders in the smaller high schools will be bussed to one of the participating high schools.
