ARGENTINE PRINCIPALS VISIT NEW HAVEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO LEARN ABOUT AMERICAN EDUCATION, CULTURE

Two Argentine school principals have spent the last two weeks visiting New Haven public schools as a part of a U.S. State Department exchange program.

The principals today went to Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School, their last full day in New Haven. Under the program, a New Haven educator will visit the principals’ schools in Argentine next June.

“This is a wonderful program that increases international understanding,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “I’m pleased and honored that our new friends from Argentine were able to visit so many of our schools and see the great things happening in New Haven. This visit educates all of us, teaching New Haven staff and students about Argentina and our guests about America.”

Both principals are from Cordoba, Argentina. Dario Benitez is principal of a middle and high school. Jorge Lujam is principal of a technical school.

During their two-week stay , the principals also visited Mauro-Sheridan Science, Technology and Communications School, Truman School, Columbus Family Academy, John C. Daniels School of International Communication, Hillhouse High School, Wilbur Cross High School and Metropolitan Business Academy.

The U.S. State Department paid all the program’s expenses.
