“I want to praise New Haven Public Schools teachers, administrators and staff for their hard work and professionalism in the face of delays and problems caused by the storm. The district’s custodians worked especially hard to get schools ready for opening in the wake of Irene. Our central office, building and food services staffs did outstanding work during the hurricane, operating King-Robinson and Benjamin Jepson schools as shelters and providing food for evacuees. You all did a great job, and I’m proud of you.

“I want to wish New Haven Public Schools students, parents and employees a happy and successful new school year.”
