NEW HAVEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO OPEN THURSDAY EXCEPT FOR HILLHOUSE, KING-ROBINSON AND DAVIS STREET

All New Haven public schools will open on Thursday, September 1 except for Hillhouse High School, King-Robinson School and Davis Street School, which remain without power.

Parents are reminded that Thursday is a full day of school.

Buses will run scheduled routes, including to suburban towns, unless blocked by fallen trees or debris. If your street is blocked, find alternative transportation or keep your child home.

“Thursday is the first day of school for all New Haven Public Schools except for Hillhouse High School, King-Robinson School and Davis School,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “Hillhouse, King-Robinson and Davis will have no school because they continue to have no electricity.

“Since yesterday, United Illuminating has restored power to three city schools. We are continuing to work closely with UI to get the three remaining schools back on line.

“I urge parents to check our website, www.nhps.net, as well as local news websites, TV and radio for further updates.”

Kindergarten will start on Friday, September 2 and pre-kindergarten on Tuesday, September 6, as scheduled.

The district will issue an update tomorrow.
