WILBUR CROSS HIGH SCHOOL STAFF TO HOLD BENEFIT DINNER, SILENT AUCTION FOR FAMILY OF FAIR HAVEN FIRE VICTIMS

The Wilbur Cross High School staff will hold a dinner and silent auction on Tuesday, March 22 to benefit the Roberson family who lost three members in a fire earlier this month in the city’s Fair Haven section.

Brentell Roberson, a Wilbur Cross sophomore, lost his brother, mother and cousin in the blaze.

The event will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance and available at the school office. Wilbur Cross asks anyone planning to attend to RSVP so organizers know how much food to prepare.

Wilbur Cross Principal Peggy Moore said that local businesses and individuals are donating the food and silent auction items, such as dinner at area restaurants, theater tickets, jewelry and other items.

“Brentell and his family suffered a devastating loss,” Moore said. “Our hearts go out to him and his loved ones. The staff wanted to do something to help and decided to hold this benefit.”

“This event will help the Roberson family in its hour of need,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “The Wilbur Cross community is coming together to support Brentell and his family. I hope that this event in some small way eases the family’s suffering.”

For more information or to donate an item for the silent auction, please call the school at 497-7400.
