ELEVEN NEW HAVEN SCHOOL BANDS TO MARCH IN CITY ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

More than 500 New Haven public school students in 11 bands  will march in the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Sunday, constituting about 15 percent of participants.

The students range from 3rd to 12th graders.

“I’m proud that our school bands will play big role in one of New Haven’s and the state’s premier events,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “Our students and staff have worked hard to prepare for the parade, and I’m sure they will make the New Haven schools proud. Their participation is a tribute to our music programs.”

Schools sending bands to the parade are: James Hillhouse High School; Wilbur Cross High School; Clemente Leadership Academy; King-Robinson International Baccalaureate School.  L.W. Beecher Museum School of Arts & Sciences and Ross Woodward Classical Studies School will march as one band.

Also marching are: Augusta Lewis Troup School; Edgewood School; John S. Martinez School; Mauro-Sheridan Science, Technology and Communications School; Davis Street School and Betsy Ross Arts School.
