“I am honored that Magnet Schools of America has bestowed its excellence award on John C. Daniels,” Principal Gina Wells said. “I am proud of our kids and staff whose hard work has made Daniels such a success.  We will continue our mission of creating global citizens who understand and appreciate the world beyond our borders.”
“I am proud that the Magnet Schools of America is honoring Daniels School’s record of achievement,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “The students, teachers and administrators deserve credit for making Daniels a nationally recognized magnet school. Daniels’ success is proof of the potential and promise of magnet schools.”
Daniels school, located in the Hill neighborhood of New Haven is an inter-district magnet serving 525 students in Pre-K through 8th grade from New Haven and surrounding districts.
It is a dual language school where academic rigor is increased by instruction in both English and Spanish. Students learn what it means to be global citizens through the international communication theme and demonstrate their learning using hands-on projects related to the theme-based curriculum.
MSA recognized Daniels as a school of distinction in 2010 and of excellence in 2009.
There are approximately 4,000 magnet and theme-based schools in the United States.
