NH SCHOOLS EXTEND SURVEY DEADLINE

The New Haven Schools are extending to March 11 the deadline for parents to fill out and return their school surveys.

The surveys ask parents to rate their children’s schools on a wide range of subjects, including academic expectations, responsiveness to parental concerns, curricula, communication with parents and overall atmosphere. All answers are confidential.

“This is your chance to be heard,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said. “I urge parents to fill out and return their school surveys. We value your feedback and need it to keep improving your child’s school. This information is vital to realizing our School Change Initiative goals of closing the achievement gap, halving the dropout rate and assuring all kids are academically prepared for college.”

Several schools improved communication with parents and offered more enrichment activities as a result of last year’s surveys.

Completing the survey costs nothing. Parents received an addressed, postage-paid envelope in which to return the surveys. Parents can also pick up a survey at their child’s school or complete one online at www.nhps.net.

Parents with questions should call (203) 903-1453.
