Saturday, September 25th, Barnard Environmental Magnet School is hosting a clean-up day at West River Memorial Park (corner of Ella Grasso Blvd. and Derby Ave.) in partnership with Save the Sound, a Connecticut clean coast initiative. Community members are encouraged to come pick up and tally trash. They do not need to stay for the entire duration of the event.

Ringling Brothers brings CircusFit to Martinez School

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey performers are athletes, making them the perfect “real life” role models to encourage young people to be active and physically fit.  Through CircusFit, these performer/athletes offer youth an awe-inspiring and action-packed road to health and fitness.
 
What it is:
—       The CircusFit Seminar is a 30 minute demonstration of fun fitness basics including warm-ups, stretching, and strength building.  After the introduction and demonstration is finished, the audience may break into small groups or the clowns will ask for volunteers to come forward to take their tries at different fitness skills such as stretching, juggling, balancing arts and group games.

Positive Behavior Support Certificates and Raffle

Students receive recognition on a daily basis with ‘Caught You Being Good’ slips. Students earn these for displaying our Betsy Ross Core Values; Respect, Integrity, Safety, Excellence (RISE). Every other Friday a raffle is held. Students’ names are drawn from each grade level and winning students get a certificate and a prize that has been donated to the BRAMS PBS program. Prizes are solicited by teachers and staff and prizes vary with each drawing. In addition to the raffle, students also earn tickets they may spend at the school store. No prize is too big or too small! If anyone would like to donate, please call our contacts and if you know a BRAMS student or staff member be sure to ask them about our PBS program.

Barnard Fall Garden Cleanup

Description:  Barnard families will help to put the garden to rest for the season. They will be planting winter cover crops, constructing the covered garden plot.  Apple cider and other seasonal treats will be served.
