NEW HAVEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS 2010 ORIENTATION SCHEDULE
NEW HAVEN – In preparation for the 2010/2011 school year, New Haven Public Schools will hold orientation sessions for all parents and guardians of students in grades five through twelve on Monday, August 30th and Tuesday August 31st.  Parents and guardians must attend one of the orientation sessions before their children can officially begin school.
           For parents and guardians of students who will attend Barnard Environmental Studies Magnet School, Beecher School, Bishop Woods School, Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, Katherine Brennan School, Celentano Museum Academy, Clemente Leadership Academy, Clinton Avenue School, Columbus Family Academy, Conte/West Hills Magnet School, Davis Street 21st Century Magnet School, East Rock Magnet School, Edgewood Magnet School, Engineering Science and University School, Fair Haven School, Hill Central Music Academy, Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, John C. Daniels School, John S. Martinez School, King/Robinson Magnet School, Lincoln-Bassett School, MicroSociety Magnet Elementary School, Nathan Hale School, Ross/Woodward School, Mauro-Sheridan School, Troup Magnet Academy of Science, Truman School, Wexler/Grant Community School, Worthington Hooker School, and DOMUS School there will be five sessions to choose from.  On Monday, August 30th there will be sessions for grades five and six at 10a.m. and 7p.m. and for grades seven and eight at 1p.m. and 7p.m.  On Tuesday, August 31st , there will be a session for grades five through eight at 7p.m.
           If your child will be attending Cross CT Scholars Program, Dixwell New Light School, New Horizons School for Higher Achievement, Hillhouse High School, Polly T. McCabe Center and Wilbur Cross High School, there will be four different sessions for you to choose from.  On Monday, August 30th  there will be a session for grade  nine only at 9a.m. and sessions for grades ten through twelve at 1p.m. and 6p.m.  On Tuesday, August 31st, sessions for grades nine through twelve will be held at 6p.m.
           Parents and guardians of students who are enrolled in high school magnet programs at Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School, High School in the Community, Hill Regional Career High School, Hyde Leadership Academy, Metropolitan Business Academy, New Haven Academy, Riverside Education Academy, and Sound School will also have four different orientation sessions to choose from.  A session for new students and those entering grade nine will be held on Monday, August 30th at 9a.m.  Also on the 30th there will sessions for grades ten through twelve at 1p.m. and 6p.m.  On Tuesday, August 31st, sessions for grades nine through twelve will be held at 6p.m.
           Orientations will take place at the individual schools on the dates and at the times listed above.
           Please be aware that parents with more than one child in the New Haven Public Schools system need to attend only one orientation session.  A waiver will be provided for parents to fill out and send with their other child so he or she may be admitted to their school’s orientation session.
