NHPS SUPERVISOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS APPOINTED TO NATIONAL SPORT STEERING COMMITTEE

NEW HAVEN – The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) appointed New Haven Public Schools Supervisor of Physical Education and Athletics, Joseph Canzanella, to their Sport Steering Committee.  His application for this committee position stood out because of his extensive knowledge and experience as a physical education teacher, athletic trainer, coach, and supervisor.
Vickie List, NASPE Interim Program Manager for Sport, said, “Joseph has only been on the committee for a few months, but has already proven to be a great asset to us.  We are happy to have him on board and look forward to working with him for the next three years of his appointment.”
During his term on this committee, Canzanella will help identify professional needs and opportunities and make recommendations to the NASPE Board of Directors for actions, programs, and initiatives related to the sport professions.
The NASPE is a non-profit professional membership association that sets the standard for practice in physical education and sports.  There are 1,500 members that include K-12 physical education teachers, coaches, athletic directors, sport management professionals, researchers, and college/university faculty who prepare physical activity professionals.
