Finding Marc Records from Library of Congress
Before you begin, I would suggest that you set up a MARC Record folder on the desktop
- Select Online Catalog http://catalog.loc.gov/
- Select Basic Search
- Under search type, select LCCN/ISBN number and scan (or type in) ISBN
- Find item and double with information on book
- On bottom right hand corner radio MARC records
- Click Print or Save Search (Long row of numbers comes up
- Control A
- Right click – copy
- In program file, select Notepad
- Open a document, right click – paste
- Save as and name it (either author's name or abbreviated title)
- Place in the MARC Record folder
- Go to All Programs
- Find Library.Solutions
- Select L.S.Cataloging
- Type in password (silver)
- Instead of selecting flashlight, go to File
- Open
- From MARC record folder, select record
- Key in *
- Record should move so that you can add the 949 field information
- Hit the save button.
- Record will be added to the local database
