How do I do an inventory?
Scan data using the Percon portable scanner (“scanner”). See scanner instructions for hook-up.
To download data open Ptfer shortcut on computer (or go to start, Library Solution, Circulation Utilities, LS Portable Scanner Offload) then follow prompts on the scanner.
To review what you have scanned go to My Computer, C drive, program files, The Library Corporation, Library Solution, Circ. The file will be named UPLOAD.INV
Rename the file so you can identify it. Be sure in ends with .INV
Go to Start, Library Solution, circ utilities, L.S. Inventory
Sign in using your circ login (name and nhps(school # code) i.e. nhps95
LS Inventory box will pop up. Be sure to expand the box.
Under the Collection Processing Tab:
select upload file – this is the file you just named
upload file type - choose scanner file
section of library being inventoried - the system should have defaulted to your school – verify- then choose collection you have scanned (ie FIC , NF , BIO)
Call Number Type: in most cases Dewey
Type in the range of books you just scanned (ie 205 AUS to 220 TEN)
Check shelf order box if you want to run a shelf order report.
When done check process inventory data.
Now you have data to run a report. You will need a job number to run a report
Go to start Library Solutions, L.S. Reports. Go to Open files. A list of reports will come up. To get a list of the inventory data you have scanned with a corresponding job number choose INVENTORY JOB LISTS.
A screen called Get Connection Data will pop up. The password is silver.
Choose your location (ie HSC) and an Inventory Job List for Selected Location will pop up.
Use the job number to run the reports available under L.S. Reports.
Good Luck.
