Business/Computer Department
Based on continual technological advancements in the marketplace, the projected needs
of the business community for entry-level workers and the projected output of trained students expected from high schools, it has become the responsibility of the Business/Computer Department of Hill Regional Career High School to aid students in acquiring the needed competencies. While business/computer education at Hill Regional Career High School does mean training for some specialized employment, to enter a two- or four-year technical school and/or college, we are cognizant that specialized training is deficient if it is not supplemented by a continued education. Moreover, we help our students grow in self-awareness, in academic preparation and in practical experience. Although some of our business/computer courses are electives, business/computer education is an essential component of our high school curricula. Networking with community business resources provides students with knowledge of career exploration and hands-on-experience, thereby enabling students to apply skills acquired in the classroom to “real world” situations.
Hill Regional Career High School is part of the National Academy Foundation and offers students specialized instruction in the areas of finance and information technology. The Academy of Finance and Academy of Information Technology are offered as three year programs beginning in students’ sophomore year. The selection process includes an application, teacher evaluations and an interview.
